Attention Homebrewers in Western Pa's Beaver, Lawrence, & Allegheny counties. Keep this event in mind for August 2011. https://www.cooperslake.com/home/index.php. The event included a sanctioned beer competition, but the highlight of the day was walking around the campground and talking with and admiring the various homebrewers setups. Most brought along some of their brews for tasting which they were more than willing to share. Some of the setups would make any homebrewer envious.
Campsite's were available for people brewing beer with fresh water and electric.. I guess there were approximately 20 brewers. Porter House Brew Shop (Porterville, PA) provided a sampling booth all day. Great setup with mini kegerators and there own homebrews. The Cherry Choc Stoudt was awesome. You could smell wort all day long. In addition there was live music for 1 pm to 9 pm.
One of my beer entries won first prize (Bourbon Barrel Porter) which I made from an extract kit from Northern Brewer. I think that using hard liquor as a flavoring agent will be the next big thing in brewing. The possibilities are endless. But really, it was just a fun relaxing day with a good excuse to drink homebrew beer all day.
